BCN Indonesia – An Australian woman posted a video of herself hugging strangers and sharing drinks with them at a nightclub in an attempt to “try to catch Covid” so that it does not ruin her wedding.
A bride-to-be has claimed that she is doing whatever she can to get infected with COVID-19 so that the viral infection doesn’t ruin her wedding.
The woman, from Melbourne in the Australian state of Victoria, posted a video in which she was seen enjoying herself at a nightclub. She hugged strangers and shared drinks with other revellers with hopes of getting Covid now rather than in the days leading up to her wedding.
“POV your wedding is in six weeks and you still haven’t had Covid,” the footage titled “Catch Covid not feelings” was captioned by @maddysmart31.
The 15-second video was posted just before Victoria announced that starting January 12, it would be closing all indoor dance floors to everyone, except wedding parties, due to surging Omicron cases.
While many praised the future bride’s unorthodox immunisation strategy, others criticised the so-called preventive measure.
One user said, “Yasss!! Feb 5 bride and I feel this on so many levels.” Another wrote, “Sucks to be a healthcare worker watching this.”
The video has since been deleted and the original poster’s account has been set to private.
Infectious disease experts have warned people against deliberately trying to catch Covid.
Australia on Monday surpassed 1 million COVID-19 cases, with more than half of them recorded in the past week. The country had recorded its first infection on January 25, 2020.
